your data, exportable any time

From phone to library, in under a minute

No typing. No barcodes. No data entry. Just hold up your phone and let the shelf become a library.

1

Take a shelfie

Hold your phone up to a shelf. One shot covers 25-50 books.

2

Glance and confirm

We mark which spines we read with confidence and which need a quick look. Two taps fix anything.

Your library is real

Search by anything. Filter by anything. Browse covers. Sort the table. It's yours.

You own more than you think.

The first time a friend mentions a book and you say "I actually own that" with confidence, instead of squinting at your shelves for ten minutes, is the moment you realize you never really had a library before. You had a collection.

Now you have a library.

A real library lets you

  • Find that book your friend mentioned, by remembering the cover, not the title
  • Stop buying duplicates of books you already own
  • See what you've read this year, what you started, what you put down
  • Spot the gaps in your collection before you waste another bookstore trip
  • Hand a friend your library URL and say "borrow whatever"

Common questions

How can a photo really do that?

We've spent the last few years getting freakishly good at reading text in messy real-world photos. A bookshelf full of tilted, glossy, decorative spines is exactly the case we built for. We tell you when we're sure (most of the time) and when we want a second opinion (rarely).

What if a spine is unreadable?

Photograph the cover instead. Add it manually in two taps. Either way, every book is in your library.

Can my friends see my books?

Only if you flip the switch. Libraries are private by default. Bibliophile and Collector subscribers get a public profile at shelfiebook.com/u/yourname when they want to share.

Can I move my Goodreads list in?

Yes. Drop your Goodreads CSV into Import and we'll merge it with anything you've shelfied. Same path on the way out -- export to Goodreads, Excel, CSV, or BibTeX any time.

Is this just Goodreads with a coat of paint?

Goodreads is a list of things you've read. Shelfie is what you actually own. Different problem, different answer.

What about my privacy?

Photos are processed for spine reading and stored in your private library. Public profiles are opt-in only. Your data exports any time you want it -- there's no lock-in.

Your shelves are waiting.

Take one photo. Get a library. It really is that simple.
